Question
Peter
I am 55.
I was a fairly heavy drinker until recently, with a tendency to binge at least once a month.
Not a lot of problems in recent years, health or family, etc, but I was not being a good role model for my kids and grandchildren.
At Xmas I got a bit of a scare when my belly became extremely distended and inflamed after overdoing it.
I decided to pretty much quit after that, and since then I have only had a couple beers.
My total calorie intake has decreased since then and instead of going to the bar am going to the gym.
My weight has stayed the same however, and though my belt is a bit looser its still at the same notch.
I am getting frustrated with that but intend to keep it up.Mentally I think I am over the hump.
How long will it take to finally see some results though in terms of reducing the belly?
I realise at my age it will take longer to lose the belly than a younger man, and I have always had a slow metabolism. Also, the males in my family all have bellies but they were and are all drinkers too.
Six months? A year? I tried googling this but found nothing. I am hopefull you might be able to give some guidance or inspiration.
Thanks!
Answer
Van,
From what I know belly fat is something that us guys don't get rid of easily. I wish I had a clear answer for you. I think if you peruse a book store, you'll find some information about this in the men's health, or general health section.
Best of luck,
Peter
