Answer
Hi William,
Even without knowing more about your aunt the one thing I can tell you for sure is you cannot force an alcoholic to stop drinking and attend meetings. Life would be so much easier for families and spouses if that were the case. The only thing you can do and that you do have control over is you. I suggest that you attend Alanon meetings, these are meetings for family members and friends of alcoholics. They will give you tools on how to handle the alcoholic and his/her drinking and show you how you can have a better more productive life.
It is unfortunate that you cannot make your aunt see reason and you may feel quite helpless because of that. This is why I am telling you to attend an Alanon meeting as soon as possible. Don't wait they will show you best how to handle your aunt. In the meantime if you are a praying man this might be a good time to start praying for her.
I'm sorry I cannot be of more help to you, I just know when dealing with an actively drinking alcoholic the best thing to do is take care of yourself, get help in learning how to deal with them because you can't make someone stop who doesn't want to stop.
Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.
