Stem Cells Give Hope of New Skin for Burn Victims

We find a way to use human embryonic stem cells to create a new skin with severe burns, said French researchers.

Experts note that the stem cells turned into a fully formed human skin after 12 weeks after it was introduced into mice. Thus solve the problem of tissue rejection, which is the most urgent problem in transplantation of skin. Planned to conduct clinical studies in humans, the researchers reported. The research work was published in the journal Lancet.

According to researchers, have made important progress in the treatment of severe burns. More than 20 years, patients with severe burns received a new skin in the laboratory with the help of technology, which grows from the skin cells of patients. But this procedure takes time for three weeks and puts the patient at risk of dehydration and infection. Also at this time could use the skin of corpses, but such fabrics have a limited period of use, and often rejected by the immune system, writes the BBC.

With the new technique, scientists hope to solve all the problems with skin grafts for burns and other injuries.
