Genetic studies reveal new causes of severe obesity in childhood

Scientists believe that the cause of severe childhood obesity is genetic, says the BBC.

The study involved 300 children with severe obesity. The researchers studied the DNA of all subjects and found that the loss of a key segment of DNA may be the cause of obesity in children. The results were published in the journal Nature.

Very often the parents are accused of what they overfed children. In some cases, social services take children with severe obesity of the parents, to normalize their diet and reduce obesity. However, the results of new studies have shown that the reason more is in the genes, but not overeating.

Obesity is recognized as one of the most pressing diseases in the world. Although much of the problem is due to lifestyle factors such as unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, however, the results of recent studies have shown that the number of copies of certain genes or their lack of influence to a large extent on the occurrence of severe obesity, according to genetics.
