Scientists have identified an enzyme that plays an important role in the growth of cancerous breast tumors, says the BBC.
Experts have found that blocking the enzyme lysyl oxidase (LTC) to reduce the size and frequency of mammary tumors in mice. According to scientists, human rights strengthens collagen - the main component of the supporting tissues of the breast. The study will help provide a more complete picture of the development of breast cancer, to better carry out treatment of the disease, experts say.
The supporting tissue surrounding the cancerous cells, is formed differently than healthy tissue, it is more tough and fibrous. These features help doctors detect breast cancer, but until now scientists did not know what causes these changes. Scientists have found in experimental mice that LTC makes collagen change in a process known as cross-section, which makes the fabric more fibrous.
Now, the scientists faced with the task to check the influence of the enzyme LTC in humans. Then you can begin to develop a new method of treatment for breast cancer, say experts.
